In this role you will develop and launch new mobile products and extend platform functionality as part of our next generation strategy. You will work closely with product management, technical program managers, designers and other engineers to define design approaches, prototype new technologies and evaluate technical feasibility to deliver value to our customers. Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of onshore and offshore development staff and contractors.
  • Responsible for all aspects of application development & deployment.
  • Responsible for the daily performance & availability of the applications.
  • Recommends, implements, and maintains application architecture.
  • Research and recommend new technologies that may be available to improve performance, development process or provide new features that are of interest to mobile applications.
  • Ensure overall security, including routine testing and evaluation of security protocols in place for user authentication.
  • Engage in innovative problem solving activities, requiring conceptual thinking creating 'out of the box' solutions with prototypes and pilots.
  • Utilize TDD practices to ensure delivery of high quality code with low rates of production defects.
  • Communicate effectively across business and technology leadership within the organization, driving consensus for the solution across the enterprise and acting as a programming expert.
  • Must be customer-focused and interact effectively and efficiently with a variety of staff and contacts including developers, SCRUM Masters, product owners, and key business stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years Android development experience
  • At least 2 years leading onshore and offshore teams
  • Strong understanding of Java and Android SDK/Android Studio.
  • A solid understanding of Java, Material Design and Object Oriented patterns & best practices
  • Fundamental experience working with the Android SDK including Activities, Fragments, Intents, Layouts, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in any combination of the below skill set
    • MSA integration
    • Knowledge of GIT or SVN
    • JSON, XML
    • REST web service framework
    • Push notifications
    • Integration with mobile analytic SDK (i.e. Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture, etc.)
    • Core Location, BLE
  • Understands mobile performance, latency, and security issues
  • Experience doing Android SDK development in a commercial or professional environment. You must be hands-on and have experience publishing at least one consumer application to Apple App store.
  • Good experience with Networking and cross platform development.
  • Comfortable with Android performance (memory, speed, networking) and extensive experience using performance analysis tools
  • Good experience with local caching and offline mode concepts
  • In-depth knowledge of current technological trends, developments, and best practices in the area of information security, wireless network architecture, technologies, and concepts.
  • Experience developing in an Agile environment
  • Strong team facilitation and interpersonal skills required, with the ability to prioritize and lead initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Recognized technical and team leadership capabilities
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation, good organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
