    The Systems Engineer II is a member of Technical Operations team of WorldVentures Holdings, a global web-based company. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining technical solutions in a cloud-based environment (AWS). This person will engineer, maintain, and troubleshoot various servers, services and related components for high performance and reliability. This includes ensuring the availability of customer-facing systems and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management. This role will work closely with Tech Ops management and other functional groups to scope, deploy, and manage the company’s infrastructure.   


    • Administration and support of Linux systems and other related systems/services (break-fix, tuning, user authentication, permissions management, and overall maintenance)
    • Resolve performance issues, errors, and outages across varying stacks
    • Administer and troubleshoot web servers (Apache/NGINX configuration, rewrite rules, server/site optimization)
    • Work with other Technology staff (System Engineers, DevOps, and Developers) to provide services for employees and external customers
    • Decrease downtime by improving redundancy, failover, and backups
    • Serve as an escalation point for a variety of tech ops / infrastructure issues
    • Assist Senior Engineers and Managers in defining requirements, examining options, and scoping solutions
    • Implement upgrades and patches using change management procedures
    • Maintain technical standards; create and maintain documentation


    • 4+ years' overall expereince in instrastructure administration
    • 2+ years’ experience with ownership/administration of production Linux-based systems and public facing websites and backend services
    • Experience integrating systems into Active Directory infrastructure (Samba, LDAP)
    • Ability to automate processes using Bash
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues with upstream and downstream applications, work with other employees/teams during an outage
    • Working knowledge of container services (experience with Docker appreciated)
    • Knowledge of Linux kernel. Ability to diagnose and configure kernel settings for app optimization. Proficient in performing break-fix, upgrades, tuning, etc.
    • Superior attention to detail is required
    • Ability to build relationships with all types of employees and vendors
    • Ability to work independently, to follow up on assignments from senior members of the team, and to complete tasks in a timely manner
    • Excel at making the workload and service process visible

    Experience with the following is a plus:

    • Experience with Couchbase or other NoSQL systems, Jenkins, AWS
    • Cross-functional skills, such as .Net, Windows, networking, build/release, etc.
    • Related certifications in Linux, networking, automation, etc.
    • Ability to compile and install packages from sources and to create Linux distributions packages from a source package
